How to Switch Propane Companies on Long Island's East End

Switching propane companies usually takes one phone call. Here's how it works on the East End.

Step 1: Check who owns your tank

Most homes lease their tank from their propane company. If your current company owns it, only they can fill it, so switching means a new company installs its own tank and your old company collects theirs. If you own your tank, any licensed company can fill it.

Step 2: Check your contract

Look for a contract end date, cancellation fee or tank removal fee. Your old supplier may also owe you credit for propane left in its tank. Terms vary, so ask.

Step 3: Call the new company

At Green Earth Propane, we handle the rest: we schedule the tank installation and a safety check at a time that suits you. We don't charge anything to switch, and new customers get a $100 account credit.

Step 4: Set up delivery

Choose automatic delivery so you never have to watch your gauge, and ask about free smart tank monitoring (for customers using more than 250 gallons a year).

Call 631-500-5080 to switch. We deliver across the North and South Forks, from Riverhead and the Moriches to Mattituck, Southold, Greenport, Westhampton, Southampton, Bridgehampton and East Hampton.
