First, stay safe

If you smell gas, leave the house, don't use light switches or phones inside, and call 911 from outside.

No gas smell, but no heat or hot water?

Don't try to relight pilot lights yourself. When a tank runs empty, the system must be leak-checked before it's turned back on. That's a safety requirement, not a sales tactic.
